TIGERLILY TAYLOR, OUR GIRL ON THE GROUND AT GLASTO

Festival season is well under way, that much is true, but if a few of your friends have booked a whole week off work and seemed to be skulking out early doors there’s just one place they’ll be this week: Glastonbury. The festival of dreams, which takes place yearly on the Summer solstice, is taking place this week, and while your friends might just be starting their adventure, most of the crew will have been there since Monday morning. Almost a town in itself, Glastonbury is so big it’s almost impossible to see all of it, even if you return year after year, but that doesn’t matter. Finding yourself lost in the music of the Piano Bar or caught up in the energy the headliners bring to the Pyramid Stage makes the festival an experience in itself. Once you go, you go forever and that seems to be the case too for the delightful Tigerlily Taylor, the Bluebella babe who rates Glastonbury as her all-time favourite place to festival this summer.

Tiger in the Solitaire Body

Who are you most looking forward to seeing play?

I am really excited to see Foo Fighters again, I have seen them so many times but they are always awesome. Also at Glastonbury: Toots and the Maytals, Chic, Afriquoi, The Flamings Lips, Goldie, DJ Shadow… I’m sure there are many more that I can’t think of right now.

Hottest up and coming band?

The Darkness!

Best festival for food?

I literally eat trash all weekend at festivals so I’m not too fussed about overpriced festival food! Although I did have a really good ostrich burger at Isle of Wight festival last year.

Best festival for fashion?

I generally wear very comfortable clothes, a lot of tracksuits, shorts and t-shirts but I am looking forward to incorporating some sexy Bluebella lingerie into my outfits this year. Glastonbury is probably the maddest in terms of outfits.

Tiger in Gia Bra

Top tip for festival season?

Always carry wet wipes, hand sanitiser, a disposable camera and water. Carry a small backpack.

Your festival style would be described as….

Casual, comfortable, but this year I am going to step up my outfit game a little.

Tiger in the Leopard Nova Bra and Black Jamie T-Shirt

If you ran your own festival the headline act would be…

TLC (I heard that T-Boz and Chilli just had a reunion in London), Freddie Gibbs, Action Bronson, Lil Ugly Mane, MF Doom, Wu Tang Clan, Led Zeppelin would be amazing. I have always wanted to see Rage Against the Machine, Blink 182 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers as well… that’s a hard one. Too many to narrow down!

Favourite Glastonbury memory?

Seeing Wu Tang Clan in 2011 and The Who last year with my boyfriend.

Camp or glamp?

Camp… but glamp if someone threw a teepee my way.

Your Glastonbury happy place?

The Rabbit Hole. It’s very secret and always full of amazing music, friends and family

Tigerlily is a dream at creating the perfect festival look, but packing needn’t be that hard! Although Glasto is renowned for being muddy, the weather looks scorching this weekend so it’s best to pack as little as possible, and what’s lighter than a bit of lovely lingerie? Check out Bluebella for the perfect cheeky bralettes, bodies and chemises to take your wardrobe game from 1 to 100. Happy festivaling gorgey gang!

International Women's Day #BeBoldForChange

International Women's Day - #BeBoldForChange
7 March 2017

Written by - Emily Bendell

For some of us lucky enough to live in societies and cities dedicated to striving for equality, gender bias can at times be an almost invisible struggle. Powerful confident women are in our place of work, amongst our friends and in our professional networks. Much progress seems to have been made.
And yet… the gender pay gap in the UK remains at 7% for women without children and leaps to a staggering 21% for those with children and recent figures suggest 1 in 5 women in will at some point in their lives experience sexual assault. The Everyday Sexism Project has highlighted the casual sexism that infiltrates most areas of our society and we have been dismayed to witness the sexist rhetoric displayed recently at the highest level of global politics. And for many women around the world the most basic human rights are still denied based on gender alone.
International Women's Day means different things to different people, but the global focus is on equality and a celebration of women and all their achievements.
Throughout ancient and modern history, women have collaborated and lead purposeful action to redress inequality in the hope of a better future for their communities, children and themselves. Whether through bold well-documented action or through humble resistance that never made it into the history books, women have and continue to unite for equality.

Along the way, as part of this almighty struggle one particularly powerful and effective movement brought lasting and significant change. The Suffragette movement began in the early 1900s and forged a globally united community that worked together in hope and action for equality. It was the Suffragettes who started International Women's Day, with the first officially named "lnternational Women's Day" event held in 1911.
To this day, International Women's Day continues to be a powerful platform globally that unifies tenacity and drives action for gender parity, while celebrating the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women.

Here we find out how some of our favourite women feel about being a woman in 2017 and what they have pledged for International Women’s Day.

Tigerlily Taylor is Daughter of the Queen drummer Roger Taylor and supermodel Deborah Leng, Tigerlily is already a society favourite, having graced the cover of Tatler and appearing regularly in Vogue.

Who is your inspirational woman?
My mother. She raised my siblings and I as a single mother and is, and has always been the strongest, most unique and independent woman I know.

How do you feel about being a woman in 2017?
Fantastic. The women I surround myself with are smart, strong individuals who are not afraid to voice their opinions; I feel blessed to have the privilege of their company. Due to certain changes recently made in Western society which have unfortunately provided ignorant, prejudiced people with a platform, we must be particularly cautious of the perpetuation of hate and alienation. However, having observed the protests happening around the world I have felt an immense sense of pride and love towards the human race as the extraordinary power of solidarity continues to be exhibited by brave, compassionate individuals.
Due to certain recent changes, we must be particularly cautious of the perpetuation of hate and alienation. Hold your own sisters! Together we are an irrepressible force.

What made you go into modelling?
I thought it would be a good way to make contacts in the creative world, since starting I have had the opportunity to talk to photographers and journalists which has been great for my interests in both areas.

What does the word ' influencer' mean to you?
Well someone could be a negative or a positive influencer. For me, a positive influencer is someone who uses their a public platform to inform, inspire and encourage others to strive for the improvement of the aspects of society which still have room for growth; such as gender and race equality. Whatever the medium, as an influencer you have an obligation to convey a message about the power of intellect and solidarity between human beings, rather simply focusing on an aesthetic image.

What music are you listening to right now?
Now that I have record player up and running in Brighton, I have been listening to a David Bowie live stage record that my grandmother gave me for Christmas.

Top tips on staying healthy this year?
Drink water, constantly. And find a form of exercise that you love and that you can improve at.

Travel plans for this year?
I am finishing university in May so am planning on going on tour with my dad for a bit in the U.S. My boyfriend and I also want to travel Japan together so hopefully we will get that sorted soon. I hate being in the same place for too long so I feel like travelling is my lifeblood! All I want to do is travel the world, take pictures and write about it!

What are your top beauty tips?
I use a Kiehls skin regime for my face but I moisturise with natural grapeseed oil. Other than that, just drink lots of water.

What festivals are you going to this year?
I am definitely going to Glastonbury but other than that I feel like I could forego the others. I would rather go away somewhere.

What trainers are you into at the moment?
I am cultivating an unhealthy obsession for Reeboks at the moment. They just keep bringing out the good collaborations and new styles. My favourite new pair are the Alife x Reebok phase 1 Pro. The problem is I wear them all too often so they don't stay fresh for very long.

What brand do you think is going to be big this year?
Bluebella! They are a lingerie company who make great styles that are comfortable and affordable. The pieces are designed by women, for women and encourage the idea of buying lingerie for yourself, not just for your partner. Also, my friends Jana Sasha Haveman and Laura Castro Poorta's brand, Vali. Their bohemian designs are heavily influenced by their Ibizan backgrounds and have a really authentic vintage feel to them. They make incredibly beautiful and some very dramatic dresses.
